At the very core of Fun Palaces, is the belief that change happens in the smallest of connections; in a conversation with a neighbour, or sharing a skill with someone. Inspired by this, during the first lockdown of 2020, Tiny Revolutions of Connection was born.
Tiny Revolutions are practical suggestions, tiny steps, that anyone can take to connect a little more in their local community or to simply pass time creatively in self-isolation. These steps are both online and OFFline; while a great deal of connection moved online last year, this is not available to everyone and Fun Palaces, as ever, should be accessible for anyone who wants to connect.
So, in 2020 Fun Palace Makers, Ambassadors and participants from all over the UK, shared their Tiny Revolutions of Connection; small creative acts that could connect us, even during the times we were having to stay at home.
This year, Tiny Revolutions returns, although now with some ideas of how to connect in physical spaces with one another, as well as socially distanced and at home. Stepping back into the real world, for some of us may feel quite huge, or worrying, or strange, or overwhelming – and perhaps keeping a little bit of tininess in our everyday might help with that. So whether you are still staying home a lot more than usual, or are back in the world at full force, there should be something for everyone.
And if you have a Tiny Revolution of your own that you would like to share with the world – email it to amie@funpalaces.co.uk. No matter how tiny it seems – the world needs it!
And if you happen to try out one of the Tiny Revolutions, do send your pictures over, so that they can be shared on the Fun Palaces website. Email them to amie@funpalaces.co.uk or Tweet them to @funpalaces.
If you’re unsure how to write up your Tiny Revolution, this form should help!
