Free, in-person workshops across the UK: a chance to meet other Makers, share ideas and find out how to make a Fun Palace in your community.
These workshops are a space for people to connect with others interested in community, creativity, culture and fun. No experience needed… just bring yourself!
Our 2026 tour: We’re hitting the road across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. All sessions are free. Come along for a cuppa and a chat, get everything you need to start making your own Fun Palace and meet other people in your area interested in making something happen in your community.

A Radical Glasgow Tour with Fun Palaces
Join Radical Glasgow Tours and Fun Palaces for a free walking tour exploring the people, struggles and often hidden cultures that have shaped Glasgow.
Through stories of migration, protest, political organising, housing struggles, solidarity and popular education, we will ask: who makes a city, whose stories are remembered and whose culture is recognised?
Fun Palaces believes that culture is made by everyone, through the things people know, do, make, share and care about. This walk brings that idea into the streets of Glasgow, uncovering how the city has been shaped by people organising, learning, caring and coming together.
The walk will end in Mono Cafe with a free drink, where we will continue exploring the hidden cultures of the city and the knowledge, interests and experiences people carry with them today.
Booking is essential and places are limited. There is an optional suggested contribution of £3, with a pay-it-forward option for anyone who would like to help cover a drink for someone else.

What do you know, make, love or care about in Margate?
Join us for a fun and relaxed day of drawing, stories, making, ideas and conversation. Come for ten minutes or stay for longer.
BRING ONE THING connected to something you make, know, love or care about, and tell us about it. It’s also completely fine to come without bringing anything.
PULL UP A CHAIR for a cuppa and a conversation, and some dreaming about what Fun Palaces might look like in Margate.
MAKE YOUR OWN BUNTING about something you know, love, care about or would like to learn.
From 2.15–4pm, join a local artist Geoffrey Chambers to draw someone or something you care about in Margate.
Children, bring your adults — and you can draw them too.
The day is part of Fun Palaces, a UK-wide movement supporting people to share the skills, interests, stories and knowledge already present in their communities.
Free. No booking required. All ages welcome. You do not need to bring anything with you.

What happens at a workshop?
You’ll meet other people in your area who are curious about community, culture, creativity and fun. We’ll share what a Fun Palace is, how Makers have run theirs (from four neighbours in a front room to a whole town hall takeover) and we’ll help you start sketching out what yours could look like.
Some sessions are hands-on, you’ll learn by making and doing with creative fun. Others are relaxed drop-ins with a cuppa and a conversation. Either way, you don’t need to be an expert in anything. You just need to want to make something happen with and for the people who live around you.
You might leave with:
- A clearer idea of what your Fun Palace could be
- Practical answers to the “how do I actually do this?” questions
- Other Makers in your area to team up with
- Free resources, activities, Makers’ Toolkits and ongoing support from us
Everyone’s welcome, whether you’ve never organised anything before, you’re part of a venue or group thinking about hosting, or you just want to come and see what Fun Palaces are all about.

Alongside our free tour, we also deliver paid workshops for organisations, venues and networks who want to bring Fun Palaces to their community, team or members.
These sessions are built around you. We’ve worked with libraries, community hubs, local authorities, universities and arts organisations – helping staff, volunteers and members build the skills, confidence and connections to make things happen where they are.
