How we collect information about you
We may collect information about you whenever you interact with us – for example, when you register to make a Fun Palace, sign up to our newsletter, donate, complete a survey, ask about our activities, or otherwise contact us by phone, post, in person or online.
What information we collect
When you register to organise a Fun Palace and create an account, we ask for your name, email address, contact telephone number and address, and whether you have made a Fun Palace before. We may also ask for additional information; providing this is entirely at your discretion and we use it for monitoring and evaluation purposes only.
We also collect:
- Any correspondence you send us, and a record of it;
- Your responses if you choose to complete one of our surveys;
- Your marketing preferences (for example, whether you have opted in to our newsletter).
You can use our website anonymously without giving us any information. If you visit anonymously, we may still record limited technical information through analytics, such as the pages you visit, how long you spend on the site, whether you are a new or returning visitor, how you reached the site, and the type of device, browser and connection you use. See our Cookies Policy for more.
How we use your information and our lawful bases
Under UK data protection law we must have a lawful basis for using your personal information. Our bases are:
- Consent – to send you our newsletter and marketing emails. You can withdraw consent at any time (see below).
- Legitimate interests – to administer registrations, communicate with Makers to help Fun Palaces run successfully, respond to enquiries, carry out monitoring and evaluation, and keep our website and services secure.
- Legal obligation – where we are required to process information to comply with the law (for example, safeguarding or responding to lawful requests).
We will regularly email people who have opted in, to share news and support the successful running of Fun Palaces events nationwide. If you do not wish to receive future mailings you can unsubscribe at any time using the “unsubscribe” link in every email, or by contacting us. We occasionally invite users to complete surveys for research purposes; you can opt out at any time by contacting us at orla@funpalaces.co.uk.
