#CreativeRiots – Don’t Leave me in the Cold

“Make a statement in your community”

This Creative Riot was created by Remi from Inverness.

“Oftentimes we are frustrated about what is happening around the world concerning living costs, energy prices, fuel prices (the list continues) and others share that frustration too. You may not have the exact words to express the anxiety, so I have come up with a statement that you and others can get involved in to make a statement in your community and in your neighbourhood that you have deep concerns as the colder months approach us.

A simple message such as ” Don’t leave me in the cold” on a stone could let people in your community know that you are in agreement that there deep concerns about the standard living circumstances for yourself, your neighbours, your community and further afield. The stones can be placed on your front door or perhaps you could leave the stone on a busy high street, in the town centre, a train station, or on the promenade! There could be one stone, tens or maybe hundreds of them, raising awareness of how we are feeling about the costs of living, energy and fuel prices.

Can you think of a few friends, neighbours,  family members or alike that will join you to make a statement?

If you don’t have anyone in mind, you never know, someone completely unrelated to you may see this and be encouraged to make a statement too.”

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Any medium to large stone
  • Acrylic paint, Sharpie pens, chalk pens or similar
  • Clear outdoor varnish such as Acrylic Matt or Gloss Varnish

Paint, write or chalk your message on your stone, then cover it with varnish to preserve your message (if you can’t get hold of varnish, it will probably be fine without, you may just want to leave it somewhere more sheltered from the rain.
