The Fun Palaces Weekend of Celebration is almost here and yes, you can absolutely still join in. Whether it’s a handful of neighbours round a kitchen table or a quick online skill-share through Whatsapp, tiny Fun Palaces count, connect people, and look brilliant on the map.
Why ‘late’ is never too late!
Every year Makers add new Fun Palaces right up to the weekend (and sometimes on the morning itself). We love that energy and if you’ve been waiting for a sign, this is it! Maybe you’ll even figure out how to make your Fun Palace as it’s happening and that’s okay.

Quick ways to start (today)
Pick one thing, keep it small and simple and make it local:
- Doorstep skill-share (30–60 mins): gather your neighbours and show each other how to mend a zip, plant bulbs, or fix a bike puncture.
- Kitchen-table micro-crafts: paper flowers, badge-making, sourdough starters, collages from scrap magazines.
- Story swap at the local cafe: invite people to bring a memory/object and swap stories for half an hour.
- Tiny outdoors: chalk-art trail, mini-nature survey on your street, seed swap at the gate.
- Digital Fun Palace: short Zoom tutorial, WhatsApp “learn-a-thing” chain, photograph your local area for Wikimedia commons, or try a Minecraft co-build. Mark yours as digital when you add it to the map.
Tiny Fun Palaces are real Fun Palaces… small, scrappy, welcoming and powerful. Read more here about how to join in from places like your living room or local park

Add yours to the map in 10 minutes or less
- Decide your idea (what will you share?).
- Choose a place (eg home, garden, cafe, park bench, WhatsApp group).
- Pick a time-window (15–90 minutes is fine).
- Go to ‘Make a Fun Palace’ and create/register your listing. If it’s online, tick “digital” so it shows with a yellow pin. If you want to keep your location hidden and just have a pin in the general area, select the ‘Tiny Fun Palace’ option.
- Details not final? No problem… you can add it now and edit it again later. Being on the map helps people find you and shows the scale of community-led culture across the UK.

Need ideas, tools or reassurance?
- Start with our Makers Toolkit and scroll through all our bite-sized examples and resources, including our making a Tiny Fun Palace guide.
- Planning an online or blended activity? See our Digital Fun Palaces Resources for ideas.
- New to Fun Palaces? Our homepage explainer shows what a Fun Palace is (and isn’t).
- You don’t need a venue and you don’t have to pack the day full of activities. Start with an hour this year with just one or two things happening and inviting a handful of neighbours. Next year you can make it bigger if you want to.
No matter how tiny or last minute your Fun Palace is, it will make a difference – creating an impact in your community for months, even years to come. Join the many, many other Fun Palaces on the map this October, and take part by signing up your Fun Palace now.
The 2025 Weekend of Celebration is Friday 3rd –Sunday 5th October. Many Makers choose that weekend but others pick dates that suit their community (both are welcome). Add yours to the map whenever works for you.
