Get Ready!
Register for Fun Palaces 2020 from March 17th

It’s been a very busy start to the year, but we are almost good to go, and we’re looking forward to seeing loads of you signing up to make Fun Palaces in 2020!
This year we will be launching the 2020 Fun Palaces campaign in Inverness, Scotland. Look out for news about the launch on social media, and if you want to race to be the first on the map – go for it!
We’ll also be unveiling a shiny new website, premiering the new Makers’ film, and sharing the results of our 2019 Evaluation.
Last year there were loads of brilliant tweets from those of you waiting for sign-ups to go live the night before. You were all very hot on the #FunPalaces hashtags. More please!
Scroll down to find out which Fun Palaces are taking place near you, and how you can get involved.

New Website!

The Fun Palaces website has been getting a make-over. We’ve been busy cleaning, brightening, and polishing it up, adding some useful new features, and making it a bit faster and easier to use. And it will be in Welsh too.
The new site goes live from 10am on Tuesday 17th March. If you’d like to make a Fun Palace this year, head to www.funpalaces.co.uk and click the ‘Make a Fun Palace‘ button to sign-up for Fun Palaces 2020.
In the coming days, we might have to switch the current Fun Palaces site off (you’ll see a ‘COMING SOON’ message if you try and visit) while we rush around arranging the final pieces of furniture in time for the big reveal.
In the meantime, keep an eye on @FunPalaces TwitterInstagram and Facebook accounts for news and updates.

Inverness Launch

On March the 17th we’ll be launching the 2020 Fun Palaces campaign at Eden Court Theatre in the Scottish Highlands. We have a brand new ambassador, Alis Ballance, at Eden Court, as well as Siobhan Kearney at Big Telly in Northern Ireland, and Bethan Page at National Trust Wales in North Wales. Along with continuing ambassadors in Cornwall, Scotland, and Sheffield, we’ll all be supporting Makers to make even more Fun Palaces across the U.K. in 2020.
At the launch we’ll unveil our new film, see who has signed up first, and share findings from the 2019 Evaluation (see here for last year’s report).
Follow Fun Palaces social media on the day and do join in the conversation using the #FunPalaces hashtag.

Morrisons Community Spaces

Are you interested in making a Fun Palace this year, but struggling to find a space to meet or to hold your Fun Palace?
We noticed that Morrisons have a new community initiative offering the use of cafes, and other spaces for free community use. We thought this could be a great place to meet Makers and plan. We also love the idea of holding a Fun Palace inside a supermarket, where shoppers could share their secret skills with each other. Have a look here to find out more, and to book a space.

Workshops

Would you like support to help you think about how a Fun Palace could be made by you and your community? Perhaps you are someone wanting to make something happen in your community, or you could be part of a venue or organisation thinking about ways to hand over your space to local people.
If this might be you, you might want to consider booking a workshop with the Fun Palaces HQ team. We offer workshops to organisers on a pay-what-you-can basis (they should be free to attend for participants). They help local interested people make connections and get people thinking about what they could create together.
