A resident made Fun Palace for the whole community, in the heart of the historic Boundary Estate at Virginia Primary School.

11:00

All day activities (11am-4pm) will include: Boundary Estate Fun Palace Art & Craft Sharing Tables, with Sabreen in the Lower Hall; London Metropolitan Archives - interactive history, with Tom from the LMA in the Lower Hall; Join Sai Pathmanathan and the Royal College of Pathologists - discover the exciting world of pathology in the Science Gazebo; Sam Dundas-Dunbar from Tower Hamlets Council will surprise you with some recycling know-how in the Science Gazebo; Spitalfields Farm's chickens will bring Emma and colleagues to show you how to weave in the Garden Space; The Young Foundation will be bringing Lego for you to create your perfect community building, with Zoë in the community space. The Joan Littlewood Pop-Up Cafe in the Lower Hall will be serving refreshments all day and hot lunches from 1pm in the Lower Hall, pay what you can afford.

  • During the day we'll be joined by Tower Hamlets Tennis will be bringing along some pop-up tennis courts and their know how - could you be a Grand Slam champion?! Timings will be shared soon so stay posted!

Sarah Wise is joining us for the fifth year to share the real history of The Nichol, the space where the Boundary Estate now stands. Sarah will deliver a fascinating talk in the Lower Hall followed by a walk around the Boundary Estate and surrounding neighbourhood. Ends at around 12.45.

Clowning fun with Holly from Told by an Idiot. Join performer and theatre maker Holly Delefortrie for a fun, silly and accessible hour of games for all the family in the Theatre Space.

Alom Shaha will share his knowledge of how you can make some marvellous machines from everyday things you have at home., he'll be in the Science Gazebo until 3pm.

Join Dr. Nadia Valman for the second Boundary Book Club, a fun and accessible look at how our neighbourhood and the wider East-End is represented in fiction. This is open to everyone, you don't have to read anything in advance as Nadia will bring short extracts from some famous, and some less famous, stories for you to discuss. Join in however you feel comfortable, listen as you eat your lunch or chat over your chai! Ends at around 2pm, and there may be another session later in the afternoon.

ThriveLDN will bring art and conversation to the Fun Palace with Helen and Priscille on the Covered Benches by the Garden Space.
