A family-friendly day of creativity and chat! We're taking part in the annual Fun Palaces weekend for the second year in a row. Come and be part of what happens in our building as we open our doors from 2pm - 6pm for building-wide activities - all for free. You can turn up at any time (last entrance is 5.45pm).

FULL LINE-UP OF ACTIVITIES

Confirmed activities include: Shoreditch Town Hall History Toursboard games in our Front Room, a workshop led by Filament Theatre, Hula Hooping with The Majorettes, immersive and interactive experiences for children, and lots more.

Myth Monster by Dens & Signals, 2.30pm: Great for ages 7+

Myth Monster is a playful and uplifting performance about time, stories and monsters, that is experienced through headphones. Journey through time on our planet, look at the past and the future, as you learn about the unfolding of human history, and the wonder and possibility of life.

Shoreditch Town Hall History Tour, 3pm: Great for ages 10+

Join one of our guided tours and explore spaces that are usually closed to the public. Learn about our building's history, featuring stories of suffragette Sylvia Pankhurst, women’s rights advocate Helen Taylor, Shoreditch's first woman mayor Henrietta Girling OBE and more. You never know, you may even bump into a ghost or two.

Hula Hooping Class by The Majorettes, 3.30pm: Great for ages 3+

Learn to hula hoop with The Majorettes! Join the world record breaking hula hoop troupe, The Majorettes, for a fun, all ages, all levels, hula hoop workshop, where you can learn to spin a hoop on your waist and maybe even master some circus tricks. 

Songs of Hope and Resistance Workshop by Filament Theatre, 4.30pm: Great for all ages

Write and perform your own protest song! Drawing on Shoreditch Town Hall’s rich history and following in the footsteps of Sylvia Pankhurst, this workshop led by Filament Theatre will teach you some fun and simple protest songs, and give you the opportunity to write your own.

Board Games in the Front Room, all day: Great for all ages

Pull up a chair and get stuck into a classic, or discover a new favourite, in our cosy Front Room, perfect for friendly competition or a relaxed game with the family. 

AI Mirror by Razik Darji & Joseph Baugh in the Foyer, all day: Great for ages 6+

Ever wondered what you’d look like in another era or style? Step up to the AI Mirror, powered by real-time Stable Diffusion. As you stand in front of the camera, you’ll see yourself instantly transformed into different artistic styles and aesthetics, a playful and surprising way to see yourself through new lenses. Jewellery Skills and Making by Kate Hodgson Jewellery in the Foyer, all day: Great for ages 4+

Draw, design, and make your own jewellery with soft wires, hooks, colourful beads and semi precious stones. Kate Hodgson will teach you the process of creating your ideas and making them come to life – using drawing and modal making with silver foil and plasticine before you create your own piece of jewellery.

Art Therapy by I Found Me Counselling in the Foyer, all day: Great for ages 3+

IFM will be facilitating Art Therapy sessions for community members of all ages. Using a variety of arts and crafts materials, alongside colours and creative tools, participants will be encouraged to explore self-expression in a fun, relaxed, and therapeutic way. Our space will allow individuals and families to sit together, get creative, and engage in meaningful activities.

Allia Information Stall in the Foyer, all day: Adults

Allia Impact supports entrepreneurs at every stage, from early ideas to scaling established organisations. What to expect

2pm - Welcome to our Fun Palace! The following activities will be running throughout the day:

  • AI Mirror by Razik Darji & Joseph Baugh – attendees stand in front of a camera to see themselves transformed on a TV screen into different styles and aesthetics. 6+
  • Jewellery Skills by Kate Hodgson – draw, design, and make your own jewellery. 4+
  • Art Therapy by I Found Me Counselling – using arts, crafts, and creative tools, explore self-expression in a fun, relaxed and therapeutic way. 3+ - this might go in the Production Office if space is needed
  • Allia Information Stall – find out more about Allia’s Business Support
  • Board Games and colouring in - with refreshments in our Front Room Bar

2.30pm – 3.20pm - Myth Monster by Dens & Signals will take place in the Council Chamber 

3pm – 3.50pm - A building wide Shoreditch Town Hall History Tour led by our Cultural Programme Manager

3.30pm – 4.30pm - The Majorettes will lead a hula hoop workshop in the Mayor’s Parlour

4.30pm – 5.45pm - Filament Theatre will run a protest song workshop in the Council Chamber
