We are delighted to be collaborating with The Writers Block to host their next Speakeasy session as part of the 2024 Fun Palaces! Short stories, poetry, song and spoken word. Share your work, meet other writers, discover new talent.

Join Us for a Mosaic-Making Session at Ladder for this year’s Fun Palace!
Following the fantastic feedback from last year’s Fun Palace, we’re excited to create a community mosaic featuring the iconic Tin Miner. Thanks to the generous support of Westcountry Tile Centre, and with additional tiles specially ordered, we invite you to be part of this collaborative art project!
Come along and experience the calming, mindful process of placing tiles at The Ladder from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM. No experience is needed—just bring your creativity! We’ll be inside The Ladder, and everyone is welcome to contribute.

Or, do you love board games … following on from last year’s Fun Palace, we’ve got tonnes. So, come along bring your own or play one of ours, we’ve got everything ranging from Wingspan to Monopoly!

Exploding Paint Communal Banner Fun Palace – Saturday 5th October, 11:00-14:00 – Fair Meadow Car Park, Redruth, TR15 2BT
In collaboration with the Buttermarket and Redruth Town Council, Redruth residents Emma & Hannah will be hosting an exploding paint Fun Palace in which you can help to create a communal banner that will be based around the theme ’Redruth, the heart of Cornish innovation’. This banner will then be displayed in town or used for festivals.
We will be using poster paints and Alka-Seltzer to create paint bombs! This is a perfect ’art meets science’ Fun Palace for any age.

Join Cornwall Butterfly Conservation and decoupage and paint your very own butterfly. Learn a bit more about butterflies and Lepidoptera and the important role they play in the Cornish eco-system.
Cornwall Butterfly Conservation works to protect butterflies and moths in Cornwall. They focus on habitat management, monitoring butterfly populations, and raising awareness about these insects and their conservation needs. They often engage in activities such as organizing events, conducting surveys, and working on habitat restoration projects.

Hello, my name is Ellie.
I love, amongst other things, the ritual of getting ready for a night out!
So I’d love you to join me to sing badly (or well), dance, giggle, confide in each other, get made up, share makeup tips, do our hair or each other’s hair, compliment each others’ outfits over an alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage.
I’d really love to meet new people and bond over that buzz you get in anticipation of a night out.
When we’re ready we’ll head out to Redruth Record Club’s Fun Palace Edition at The Oxford Inn.
This Fun Palace will be the sum of what everyone chooses to bring. So, bring a Spotify playlist, your makeup, wigs, your best piece of gossip, your best dance moves, fancy dress, your biggest smile, a bottle of plonk, a bag of crisps, the outfits you can’t decide between, your best joke or your worst one, anything and everything goes!
We can just sit back and see where the night takes us!
Redruth Record Club Fun Palace – Saturday 5th October, 18:00-22:00 – The Oxford Inn, 28 Fore Street, Redruth
Redruth Record Club is a pop up community music event co-run by Wooden Box and Lucky’s Record Bar. A club night where anyone can be the DJ. There is a theme and you are invited to play records on the theme. We are on hand to help with the equipment if you have not used it before.
For our Fun Palaces edition we will run from 6pm – 10pm at The Oxford Inn. It’s free entry, as always, and the theme is ”Buildings” think Castles, Palaces, Houses, Bricks etc bring records on the theme and put your name on the board. When your turn comes play three records on the theme. Wow your friends with your Superstar DJ skills*. Or, just come along have a drink and dance / chat with friends.

Organised Atoms Fun Palace – Sunday 6th October – Saint Day, Redruth, 11.00 – 15.00 – Exploring the world heritage site and iconic raceway, in search of earth’s natural treasures, which we can then examine under microscopes and make our own electronic synthesisers to enable us to listen to the frequency of the crystal sound.
