Fun Palaces Maker great ideas #1 : Link4Growth

We believe Fun Palaces Makers know best about making Fun Palaces, so we’re very happy to share any useful ideas or concepts you come across. Farnham Fun Palace recently went to a Link4Coffee event, this is what Carine from Farnham says about it :

We attended a Link4coffee meet-up this morning at a local café in Farnham. It is a monthly community event where people are invited to meet other members of the community and share projects, get help, etc.. It is free and open to absolutely everyone. It lasts about 1.5/2hrs but we can come and go as we want.

It was a small meet-up (5 people in total) so it’s not too scary for people who like us are not very comfortable meeting complete strangers. We sat down over a coffee and talked about who we are and what we do/want to do for and with the community. There was no agenda. We could talk about what we wanted.

We explained what the Fun Palaces are, why and how we are involved and what we’re planning to do this year. We got great advice regarding the pros and cons approaching our local council for help, how to reach out to more people (we learnt a lot about Google+ which sounds like a very useful tool for communities) and everyone agreed to help us spread the word and possibly meet more people next month who would be willing to get involved in our Fun Palace

It was a great platform to share what we’re good at and what we’re not so good, and heart-warming to have people listen to us and offer their help.

Their website lists their events by location. This is their website.

They have morning, afternoon, evening meet-ups all over the UK.

We heard about them on Twitter. Their hashtag is: #L4G and their profile name : @link4growth
